PRAY TO BE IMMUNE AGAINST DECEPTION

Read: 2 Thessalonians 2:1-12
[1]Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,
[2]That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.
[3]Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
[4]Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.
[5]Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?
[6]And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time.
[7]For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.
[8]And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:
[9]Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,
[10]And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
[11]And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
[12]That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

MEMORISE: For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible even the elects (Matthew 24:24).

EXPOSITION
Jesus Christ expressly warns His followers that close to His Second Coming, the elects (believers in Him) would be deceived. Following the trend in current affairs worldwide, ever since, are various agenda to depopulate by force, to rule and overrule, to silence dissenting opinions. Coupled with various stage-managed, demonically-inspired and aided-doctrines, and magical shows called miracles, it is thus high time we took this warning seriously, and pray not to fall victims of the lying wonders and varied end-time refined modern deceptions.

As Christians, we must say no to forced marriages, divorce, abortions, and reject inducements and all falsification of data, even as today is International Programmers’ Day and Positive thinking Day. We should condemn blood on altars, speak out against terrorism of all kinds, be ready to endure situations rather than patronise the witches of Endor, and follow the guiding star of God’s Word rather than seek the counsel of Herod. Prove all things and hold on to that which is true, neither yielding to deceiving spirits, nor playing with or condoning sin in any form. All of these and more did the founding fathers of faith do (2 Cor. 11:1-4; 12:20,21; Rev. 2:1,2).

Satanic deception is real. Pray not to be deceived (1 Tim. 4 :1ff), and if you have the assurance by the Holy Spirit that you are standing, beware lest you fall (1 Cor. 10:12). Always check your spirit and walk with God to ensure that you aren’t compromising the standard of Christ’s truth for Satan’s lies (2 Cor. 13:5ff).

PRAYER POINTS
1. O Lord, I thank You for the Holy Spirit exposing the spirit of deception.
2. O Lord, immune ne against all forms of deception and error.
3. Pray for CAC Babalola Region, our father in the Lord, the Superintendent, and its officers at the various levels, as led by the Spirit of God.

1. Abide among us with Thy grace,
Lord, Jesus, evermore;
Nor let us e’er to sin give place,
Nor grieve Him we adore.

2. Abide among us with Thy word,
Redeemer whom we love;
Thy help and mercy here afford,
And life with Thee above.

3. Abide among us with Thy ray,
O Light that lighten’st all,
And let Thy truth preserve our way,
Nor suffer us to fall.

4. Abide with us to bless us still,
O bounteous Lord of peace;
With grace and pow’r our spirits fill,
Our faith and love increase.

5. Abide among us as our shield,
O Captain of Thy host,
That to the world we may not yield,
Nor e’er forsake our post.

Our God and Saviour be;

And keep us true to Thee.
