CAC LIVING WATER DAILY DEVOTIONAL FOR SEPTEMBER 17, 2022 : TOPIC – DON’T MISBEHAVE BECAUSE OF YOUR TRAVAILS
CHRIST APOSTOLIC CHURCH THE LIVING WATER DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE
DATE : Saturday, September 17, 2022.
(Still’s Disease Awareness Day, International Patient Safety Day & International Eat an Apple Day)
TOPIC: DON’T MISBEHAVE BECAUSE OF YOUR TRAVAILS
READ: Exodus 6:1-9
[1] Then the LORD said unto Moses, Now shalt thou see what I will do to Pharaoh: for with a strong hand shall he let them go, and with a strong hand shall he drive them out of his land.
[2] And God spake unto Moses, and said unto him, I am the LORD:
[3] And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty, but by my name JEHOVAH was I not known to them.
[4] And I have also established my covenant with them, to give them the land of Canaan, the land of their pilgrimage, wherein they were strangers.
[5] And I have also heard the groaning of the children of Israel, whom the Egyptians keep in bondage; and I have remembered my covenant.
[6] Wherefore say unto the children of Israel, I am the LORD, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will rid you out of their bondage, and I will redeem you with a stretched out arm, and with great judgments:
[7] And I will take you to me for a people, and I will be to you a God: and ye shall know that I am the LORD your God, which bringeth you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians.
[8] And I will bring you in unto the land, concerning the which I did swear to give it to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob; and I will give it you for an heritage: I am the LORD.
[9] And Moses spake so unto the children of Israel: but they hearkened not unto Moses for anguish of spirit, and for cruel bondage.
MEMORISE:
So Moses spoke thus to the children of Israel; but they did not heed Moses, because of anguish of spirit and cruel bondage (Exodus 6:9).
EXPOSITION
Honestly, we should be very careful about the songs we sing. A composer once sang in Yoruba, and it translates, “If troubles are too much, a born again can result in money ritual.” What a terrible thing! We should get to a level in faith where nothing, no matter how tough, shakes us (cf. Rom. 8:35ff). What would the likes of Job who refused to bulge when the devil buffeted him so badly be saying about such unbiblical song composers and compositions? What would the likes of Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego be saying about them when these great men refused to apostatise despite the hotness of their persecutions? What would he say of them, a man who, despite the torn in his flesh refused to abandon Jesus (cf. Rom. 8:35ff)?
Travails are necessary part of our lives, even as Christians, people of God (cf. Psa. 66:12ff; 1 Cor. 10:13; 1 Pet. 5:10). God doesn’t promise us storm-free sailing, but He eternally assures to sail through with us in the storms of life (Jn. 16:33).
Israel must get to Canaan but through the wilderness. Isn’t that seemingly odd? It wasn’t going to be difficult if they followed God’s directives. Did they? Exo. 6:9 shows that their ‘bitter’ experiences caused them to do otherwise.
Result: They perished. Only two could get to the promised land. What are you going through, now? Don’t misbehave. The consequences are grave! If you remain faithful, the blessings are unprecedented.
PRAYER POINTS
1. Lord, help me that whatever I am going or would go through would not make me deny or curse You.
2. Lord, give me the ruggedness needed to go through the storms of life without failing or falling.
3. Pray for brethren who are going through period of buffeting by agents of persecution in any form, that the Lord will uphold them gloriously.

I’m a child of God, whom it cannot harm;
He will me uphold by His mighty arm,
Every moment of my day.

I’ve a home far beyond the starry sky,
And you know, that is just the reason why,
I am singing Hallelujah!
2. I can ne’er forget how upon the tree
Laid the son of God, there to die for me;
Yet to save my soul, thus it had to be,
There could be no other way.
3. I would e’er be true to my Lord and King,
Every waking hour praise to Him sing,
Knowing that at last He my soul shall bring,
