LESSON FORTY SEVEN (47)
TOPIC: UNDERSTANDING YOUR SEXUALITY

BIBLE TEXT: 1 Corinthians 6:9-18; 1 Thessalonians 4:3-4
[9]Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,
[10]Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.
[11]And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.
[12]All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.
[13]Meats for the belly, and the belly for meats: but God shall destroy both it and them. Now the body is not for fornication, but for the Lord; and the Lord for the body.
[14]And God hath both raised up the Lord, and will also raise up us by his own power.
[15]Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid.
[16]What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh.
[17]But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.
[18]Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.

[3]For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:
[4]That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour;

MEMORY VERSE: 1 Thessalonians 4:3 “For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:”

LESSON AIM: To understand sexuality strictly by the Word of God

CENTRAL TRUTH: God created sex for a man and woman who are married to each other.

INTRODUCTION: As teenagers, having reached the age of puberty, it is important to have an understanding of sexuality from the Word of God so as not to fall into the wrong ideologies about sexuality or make regrettable decisions. Sex in itself is not bad and only becomes a sin when it goes contrary to how God intended it. We will deeply explore sexuality according to the Word of God.

STUDY GUIDE
A:) SEXUALITY ACCORDING TO THE BIBLE
1. Between a man and a woman: God designed sex between a man and woman and this is why only this relationship can produce children [Mark 10:6-8], [Leviticus 18:22].
2. It must be between a married man and a married woman who are married to each other}: If sex occurs between a man and a woman who are not married to each other, it is a sin. This is called fornication. [1 Corinthians 7:1-4].
3. It must not occur with anyone other than their married partner: Sex with someone that is not your married partner is a sin. It is called adultery. [Exodus 20:14, Hebrews 13:4].
4. Sexual sin is a sin against the body: The body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, and we must therefore not defile the body. Sexual sin defiles the body. [1 Corinthians 6:18).
5. Sexual sin is also committed in the mind: Sexual sin is not only committed through sexual contact but lustful thinking. Pornography and masturbation are good examples of this. [Matthew 5:28].

B.) FORMS OF SEXUAL IMMORALITY
1. Adultery
2. Fornication
3. Prostitution
4. Masturbation
5. Homosexuality
6. Bestiality
7. Rape
8, Incest
9. Pornography
10. Perverse sexual conversations
11. Pedophilia

C.) CONSEQUENCES OF SEXUALIMMORALITY
1. Sin against the body: Sexual sin is a sin against your body which is the temple of the holy spirit. Sexual sin defiles the body. [1 Corinthians 6:18, Ephesians 4:30, Mark 7:22-23].
2. Soul ties are formed: “the two shall become one flesh” soul ties are formed from sexual intercourse because sex is more than a physical act. Sexual immorality ties you with someone other than your spouse and such person may.have evil background causing evil ties. [ 1 Corinthians 6:16].
3. Judgment: Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral. [Hebrews 1 3:4].
4. The sexually immoral will not inherit the kingdom of God. [1 Corinthians 6:9].
5. Lack of trust: Sexual immorality often leads to a breakdown of trust and respect between married couples.
6. Unwanted pregnancy: Sexual promiscuity oftentimes lead to unwanted pregnancy. This may become an unwanted burden, especially for a teen who is still trying to develop in life. Abortion is not an option as it is also a sin.
7. STD: Sexual promiscuity may also lead to the transmission of sexually transmitted diseases.
8. Unfulfilment/Emptiness: The sexually immoral or sexually promiscuous often feel empty and unfulfilled because they lose a sense of trust, and faithfulness and have no sense of real love as God has ordained it.

D.) HOW TO PREVENT/AVOID SEXUAL IMMORALITY
1. Flee [1 Corinthians 6:18]
2. Studying the Word [Psalm 119:11]
3. Prayer [Matthew 26:41]
4. Avoid bad influence [1 Corinthians 15:33]
5 Avoid media material that includes sexual or perverse content [Philippians 4:8]
6. Avoid drunkenness [Ephesians 5:18]
7. Avoid sexually perverse discussions
8. Avoid gatherings like nightclubs, midnight house parties, and truth or dare games.
9. Channel the energy that comes with natural sexual urges to profitable activities.

DISCUSSION: What are the modern secular views on sexuality and debunk these views from what you learned today? How can teenagers manage natural sexual urges?

LIFE APPLICATION:In today’s society, sexual immorality has been normalized and favored. Something once sacred has become secular. As children of God, we are to watch and pray and take necessary steps to remain sexually pure until marriage and faithful thereafter. On confusing issues on sexuality, you can talk to a trusted guardian or teacher preferably someone of the same gender as you}. But in all, your view on sexuality must not be outside the word of God. Do not listen to any view that Is contrary to God’s.

CONCLUSION: Overall, we must abstain from all forms of sexual immorality as children of God. But as for anyone who has found themselves involved in such, it is not the end of the world, 1 John 1:9; If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. People before you have remained pure until marriage and stayed faithful and with the help of the Holy Spirit, so can you.
