DATE : Wednesday, January, 24, 2024

TOPIC: : THE SAFE HOUSE (1)

READ : Psalm 91:1-3

[1]. He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

[2]. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.”

[3]. Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler And from the perilous pestilence.

MEMORISE

The LORD is my rock and and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold (Psalm 18:2).

EXPOSITION

Psalm 91 unveils God’s security plan for His children. Line 1 is a guarantee of safety and security from God! God’s place of refuge has a fortress and strong tower of defence in it that enemies cannot break (61:3). Also, in the safe house of God, there is maximum comfort and security for God’s children, especially those who make Him their refuge. Don’t joke with it. Enjoying this divine security is not without conditions. First, acknowledge God as our safe refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (46:1), rock and fortress (18:2). Then, you must make the move to access this God-provided place of refuge, and endeavour to dwell in the secret place. To dwell somewhere implies to reside there. You must make God your habitation. The safe house of God is also accessible through consistent prayers and seeking God’s face (1 Thess. 5:17).

The place of in-depth study and mediation in the Word of God cannot be overemphasised in boldly entering into God’s presence (Jos. 1:8, 2 Tim. 2:15). You can’t do this, if you are not a regular worshipper of God in Truth and in Spirit (Jn. 4:24). The bottom line is that, you can be secured from whatever insecurity that is ravaging the world anytime, anywhere, provided you choose to run into God through our Lord Jesus Christ as your habitation and refuge (Prov. 18:10).

SUGGESTED HYMN FOR TODAY:
CAC GHB: 707

1. The Lord’s my Shepherd, I’ll not want;
He makes me down to lie
In pastures green; He leadeth me
The quiet waters by.

2. My soul He doth restore again;
And me to walk doth make
Within the paths of righteousness,
E’en for His own name’s sake.

3. Yea, though I walk in death’s dark vale
Yet will I fear none ill;
For Thou art with me; and Thy rod
And staff me comfort still.

4. My table Thou hast furnished
In presence of my foes;
My head Thou dost with oil anoint
And my cup overflows.

5. Goodness and mercy all my life
Shall surely follow me,
And in God’s house for evermore
My dwelling place shall be.

Amen.

PRAYER POINTS

1. Lord Jesus, please hide me under the shadow of Your wing, away from the evils and dangers of this world.
