TOPIC: GOD IS ALWAYS NEAR

MEMORISE : Nevertheless He did not leave Himself without witness, in that He did good, gave us rain from heaven and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness (Acts. 14:17).

READ : Romans 1:17-20

[17]. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.”

[18]. For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness,

[19]. because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them.

[20]. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse,

EXPOSITION

Man is fond of giving excuses for what he knows but doesn’t do right. In the same vein, man is always fond of claiming innocence in the presence of the All-Powerful God, whose name is Justice. But no excuse appeals to God and exonerates the disobedient man. God’s attributes are manifested in His works. The mountains, oceans, rain, Sun, vegetation, etc., clearly attest to His presence. It proves that the supernatural God exists because these things can’t just happen; someone must have been responsible. By these, God makes Himself known.

So, those who say there is no God are only being pretentious, for God has made Himself visible everywhere. In fact, the Bible tags them fools (Psa. 14:1). And to cap it all, the gospel of Jesus Christ and of His eternal kingdom is here for all (Jn. 3:16). In it lies the power of God to save unto righteousness which makes as many as received Him escape from the impending doom coming upon the disobedient (Jn. 1:11,12; Rom. 1:16,17; Col. 3:6). Where do you stand? Have you seen God, or are you still acting as though you haven’t? Well, did God not say of the house of Jacob, Hear this now, o foolish people, without understanding, who have eyes and see not, and who have ears and hear not (Jer. 5:21)? If men would not see God in the mountains, Sun and other creatures, should they not see and hear Him through the gospel of His Son who has given us the Written Word, the Bible? Are you seeing Him in both the nature and His Word?
