TOPIC: DON’T EAT THAT SEED
MEMORISE : Then Isaac sowed in that land, and reaped in the same year a hundredfold; and the LORD blessed him (Genesis 26:12).

[12]. Then Isaac sowed in that land, and reaped in the same year a hundredfold; and the Lord blessed him.
[13]. The man began to prosper, and continued prospering until he became very prosperous;
[14]. for he had possessions of flocks and possessions of herds and a great number of servants. So the Philistines envied him.
[15]. Now the Philistines had stopped up all the wells which his father’s servants had dug in the days of Abraham his father, and they had filled them with earth.
[16]. And Abimelech said to Isaac, “Go away from us, for you are much mightier than we.”
[17]. Then Isaac departed from there and pitched his tent in the Valley of Gerar, and dwelt there.
[18]. And Isaac dug again the wells of water which they had dug in the days of Abraham his father, for the Philistines had stopped them up after the death of Abraham. He called them by the names which his father had called them.
[19]. Also Isaac’s servants dug in the valley, and found a well of running water there.
[20]. But the herdsmen of Gerar quarreled with Isaac’s herdsmen, saying, “The water is ours.” So he called the name of the well Esek, because they quarreled with him.
[21]. Then they dug another well, and they quarreled over that one also. So he called its name Sitnah.
[22]. And he moved from there and dug another well, and they did not quarrel over it. So he called its name Rehoboth, because he said, “For now the Lord has made room for us, and we shall be fruitful in the land.”
[23]. Then he went up from there to Beersheba.
[24]. And the Lord appeared to him the same night and said, “I am the God of your father Abraham; do not fear, for I am with you. I will bless you and multiply your descendants for My servant Abraham’s sake.”
[25]. So he built an altar there and called on the name of the Lord, and he pitched his tent there; and there Isaac’s servants dug a well.
EXPOSITION
Men should call on God for blessings and breakthroughs. It is good and godly to pray for these things. However, God only blesses those who do not eat the seed along with the fruit. For example, planting one palm kernel seed yields palm-oil, kernel, brooms, materials for lighting, natural body lotion, etc. Eating the seed consumes all of these potential benefits. Conversely, planting the seed benefits many people. This is the power of sowing a seed. God blesses the seed that is sown for more yields.
Many people pray for blessings without realising that they have already eaten the seed they are praying for. Check the spiritual gifts God has deposited in you. Hope you haven’t buried them? You may be praying for God to increase your ministry, but you have not utilised the gifts He has given you. Additionally, it is important to pay tithes so that God can rebuke the devourers over your salary, or business proceeds. Don’t spend your tithes (Deut. 26:12-15). Sow the seeds of life, business, diligent prayer, vigilance, holiness, purity, dedication, and commitment to God’s work. Care for His ministers as well. By doing so, you will receive blessings in due time. Like Isaac, who reaped a hundredfold harvest, you too can witness growth and blessings from the LORD by sowing and not eating the seed entrusted to you. Happy National Productivity Day.

Yea, even now they ripen
In sunny paradise.
O summer land of h arvest,
O fields for ever white
With souls that wear Christ’s raiment
With crowns of golden light!
4. One day the heav’nly Sower
Shall reap where He hath sown,
And come again rejoicing,
And with Him bring His own;
And then the fan of judgment
Shall winnow from His floor
The chaff into the furnace
That flameth evermore.
O holy, awful Reaper,
Have mercy in the day
Thou puttest in Thy sickle,
And cast us not away.
Amen.
PRAYER POINTS
1. Lord, help me to sow the seed You have given to me for more increase.
2. Father, I pray that my seed shall not die but live and multiply, in Jesus’ name.
3. God, bless the seed of evangelism and mission work all over the world.
