TOPIC: : FOLLOW A GODLY MODEL

[1]. Now it came to pass, that when we had departed from them and set sail, running a straight course we came to Cos, the following day to Rhodes, and from there to Patara.
[2]. And finding a ship sailing over to Phoenicia, we went aboard and set sail.
[3]. When we had sighted Cyprus, we passed it on the left, sailed to Syria, and landed at Tyre; for there the ship was to unload her cargo.
[4]. And finding disciples, we stayed there seven days. They told Paul through the Spirit not to go up to Jerusalem.
[5]. When we had come to the end of those days, we departed and went on our way; and they all accompanied us, with wives and children, till we were out of the city. And we knelt down on the shore and prayed.
[6]. When we had taken our leave of one another, we boarded the ship, and they returned home.
[7]. And when we had finished our voyage from Tyre, we came to Ptolemais, greeted the brethren, and stayed with them one day.
[8]. On the next day we who were Paul’s companions departed and came to Caesarea, and entered the house of Philip the evangelist, who was one of the seven, and stayed with him.
[9]. Now this man had four virgin daughters who prophesied.
EXPOSITION
God instructed Moses to appoint a new leader for the Israelites as he finished his ministry. Moses obeyed and prayed for God to choose a replacement. He then passed on the authority to Joshua (Num. 27:12-22). Similarly, Elijah did not envy Elisha when he was chosen and asked for a double portion of his spirit (2 Kgs. 2-1ff). In 1929, Apostle Joseph Ayo Babalola was connected with the Faith Tabernacle through Mr. Daniel Ajibola, later a Pastor, a native of llofa. Pastor David Osborn Ogunleye Odubanjo also didn’t envy Babalola when he was connected with the Faith Tabernacle in Lagos in November 1929, after hearing his amazing testimonies of the divine exploits through him between October 1928-November 1929. Instead, he suggested that Pa Joshua Adeniran Medaiyese accompany Babalola. This is a godly example of training and mentoring young ones in the ministry (Mk. 3:13-19), following Jesus’ model. Philip’s daughters followed their father’s example and were baptised with the Holy Spirit. Don’t use ungodly people around you as an excuse to be ungodly yourself. There are plenty of godly people and examples to follow. The 4 virgin daughters of Philip are great examples as mentioned in the Bible. Start living as one of God’s generals today. Don’t be fooled by Satan’s lies that everyone is sinning. There are countless saints on earth to follow. If you can’t find one, be one for others. As we observe Singles Awareness Day, be advised to start following a godly model today!
PRAYER POINTS
1. Lord, make me a godly model like Joseph and Daniel, in my generation.
2. Father, visit our youths to follow godly models henceforth, in our society.
3. Pray for CAC Theological Seminary, Opa, Ile-Ife and its off Campuses, the Provost, the Coordinators and the staff as led by the Holy Spirit.
