TOPIC: YOU ARE ANSWERABLE

MEMORISE: So he called him and said to him, “What is this I hear about you? Give an account of your stewardship, for you you can no longer be steward” (Luke 16:2).

READ : Ecclesiastes 5:8

[8]. If you see the oppression of the poor, and the violent perversion of justice and righteousness in a province, do not marvel at the matter; for high official watches over high official, and higher officials are over them.

EXPOSITION

Leadership is split into 3 tiers: lower, middle and higher. No one has absolute authority as this is how God has designed the world. Regardless of your leadership level, you will always have someone, or a group of people to answer to. However, God is the ultimate Leader and we are all responsible to Him for our stewardship, now or in the future (Lk. 16:2-3). We are simply managers, and God is the Owner of the empire. Meanwhile, have those bigots in positions of authority forgotten that they cannot escape accountability? Maybe they haven’t forgotten, but instead, have deliberately chosen a path without considering God, Who granted them the opportunity to hold such positions. Ultimately, people have control over their choices, but not over the consequences. Our text for today identifies oppression, violence, perversion of justice and all manners of unrighteousness, in the corridor of power. People use their offices to commit atrocities in the name of power, and the less-privileged and voiceless are made to suffer. The Bible has a solution for this menace: _Don’t marvel at the matter; for high official watches over high official, and higher officials are over them_ (Eccl. 5:8). It is pertinent to note, on this Administrative Professionals Day that, God sees all things, including things done in the secret. If you are caught in this web, quickly make amends and seek God’s face before it is too late.

PRAYER POINTS

1. Lord, help me not to misuse any opportunity You are giving me, in Jesus’ name.

2. I want to always do things according to Your will in whatever capacity You place me. Help me, Lord.

3. Pray for CAC Latunde Region, our father in the Lord, the Regional Superintendent, and other officers at the various levels as led by the Spirit of God.
