TOPIC: WHAT IS IN YOUR HOUSE? (II)

[11]. Now God worked unusual miracles by the hands of Paul,

[12]. so that even handkerchiefs or aprons were brought from his body to the sick, and the diseases left them and the evil spirits went out of them.

[13]. Then some of the itinerant Jewish exorcists took it upon themselves to call the name of the Lord Jesus over those who had evil spirits, saying, “We exorcise you by the Jesus whom Paul preaches.”

[14]. Also there were seven sons of Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, who did so.

[15]. And the evil spirit answered and said, “Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are you?”

[16]. Then the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, overpowered them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.

[17]. This became known both to all Jews and Greeks dwelling in Ephesus; and fear fell on them all, and the name of the Lord Jesus was magnified.

[18]. And many who had believed came confessing and telling their deeds.

[19]. Also, many of those who had practiced magic brought their books together and burned them in the sight of all. And they counted up the value of them, and it totaled fifty thousand pieces of silver.

[20]. So the word of the Lord grew mightily and prevailed.

EXPOSITION

The gospel of Jesus Christ has an immense impact on us. It has the power to atone for, and heal satanic operations and evils that plague our generation. This power resides in the blood of Jesus Christ. Just imagine, Satan trains and equips high-ranking individuals with demonic weapons to harm and destroy their fellow human beings and they take pleasure in doing so. There are people today who carry enchanted charms and marks, using them for evil purposes. Many wear charms in their pockets, armlets on their waists, and evil rings on their fingers as fashion accessories. Lots of these people do it with impunity.

God save us! What do you have in your pockets and on your fingers? When the Ephesian magicians encountered the gospel of Jesus Christ, they confessed their godless deeds (v. 18) and immediately brought out all their charms to be destroyed by the Power of Jesus Christ (v. 19). If you continue to hold onto evil objects like cursed gourds, swallowed charms, demonic rings and amulets used to harm and rob others, judgement awaits you. One day, this judgement will turn against you and you will not be able to withstand it.

PRAYER POINTS

1. Lord Jesus, I surrender to You everything that is hindering me from worshipping and serving You aright.

2. I break loose from every demonic cage that has been holding me down due to any Satanic apparatus I had harbour in my life, in Jesus’ name.

3. Pray for CAC Men Association, the Chairman and members as directed by the spirit of God.
