TOPIC: KEYS TO ANSWERED PRAYER (II)

MEMORISE : Do all things without complaining and disputing (Philippians 2:14).

READ: Philip. 2:12-18

[12]. Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling;

[13]. for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.

[14]. Do all things without complaining and disputing,

[15]. that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world,

[16]. holding fast the word of life, so that I may rejoice in the day of Christ that I have not run in vain or labored in vain.

[17]. Yes, and if I am being poured out as a drink offering on the sacrifice and service of your faith, I am glad and rejoice with you all.

[18]. For the same reason you also be glad and rejoice with me.

EXPOSITION

One wonders why there are lots of praying and prayers on the mountains, in the valleys, churches, homes, etc., today. Open your spiritual eyes and you would see that there are lots of unanswered prayers flying about in the space. There are so many factors that could be responsible for this. We need to examine some of these and how to make our prayers answerable to God.

Every child of God must guide against bitterness and strife. Answers to so many beautifully prepared prayers have been hindered because of bitterness and strife. The Holy Spirit is warning believers to jettison quarrels, or any form of dispute, but it is a pity that only a few understand the implications of this. One of the tools the enemy employs to truncate blessings and snatch the benefits that accrue to careless believer’s prayer is bitterness and rancour. Apostle Paul vehemently warns against this in Philippians 2:14. Added to this is the fact that any unholy activity before and after prayer, is a bad odour to God, and it prevents answers to prayers. So, be wary of dispute, anger, bitterness and so on, for an answered prayer. Prayer and sin don’t go together (Isa. 59:1-2).

PRAYER POINTS

1. Lord Jesus, from today, help me to take sin far away from my life so that my prayers can be answered.

2. I receive the grace to do Your will rather than praying amiss, in Jesus’ name.

3. The spirit of bitterness, anger and fight that are robbing people of their blessings after serious prayers, catch fire in Jesus’ name.
