TOPIC: : GODLY BEAUTY: THE TRUE CHARM
MEMORISE :Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing, but a woman who fears the LORD, she shall be praised (Proverbs 31:30).

[10]. Who can find a virtuous wife? For her worth is far above rubies.
[11]. The heart of her husband safely trusts her; so he will have no lack of gain.
[12]. She does him good and not evil all the days of her life.
[13]. She seeks wool and flax, and willingly works with her hands.
[14]. She is like the merchant ships, she brings her food from afar.
[15]. She also rises while it is yet night, and provides food for her household, and a portion for her maidservants.
[16]. She considers a field and buys it; from her profits she plants a vineyard.
[17]. She girds herself with strength, and strengthens her arms.
[18]. She perceives that her merchandise is good, and her lamp does not go out by night.
[19]. She stretches out her hands to the distaff, and her hand holds the spindle.
[20]. She extends her hand to the poor, yes, she reaches out her hands to the needy.
[21]. She is not afraid of snow for her household, for all her household is clothed with scarlet.
[22]. She makes tapestry for herself; her clothing is fine linen and purple.
[23]. Her husband is known in the gates, when he sits among the elders of the land.
[24]. She makes linen garments and sells them, and supplies sashes for the merchants.
[25]. Strength and honor are her clothing; she shall rejoice in time to come.
[26]. She opens her mouth with wisdom, and on her tongue is the law of kindness.
[27]. She watches over the ways of her household, and does not eat the bread of idleness.
[28]. Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her:
[29]. “Many daughters have done well, but you excel them all.”
[30]. Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing,
but a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised.
[31]. Give her of the fruit of her hands, and let her own works praise her in the gates.
EXPOSITION
No sane person detests what is good. God Himself beheld all that He created and confirmed that they were all good. It is in order to desire good things since we carry God’s image and likeness in character and values. Studying thoroughly the text, some attributes are exposed as those qualifying the virtuous woman: trustworthiness (v 11), seeking the good of the husband (v. 12), hardwork and resourcefulness (vv. 13-19), caring for the needy (v. 20), working for the family (v. 21), strength of character, love and wisdom (vv. 24-27), good parenting skill and, praiseworthiness to her husband (v. 29). All of these are what should be looked for when talking about beauty. Facial beauty is subjective and depends on the observer. A physically attractive woman who lacks good manners cannot be considered beautiful. Come to think of this. What do you think would have attracted a king to Mama Sarah who could be around 65 years old (Gen. 12:14-15)? By this age, a woman must be a grandmother! Aside being naturally endowed, she exhibited godliness in her character. No wonder Peter testified to her reverence and respect for her husband in 1 Pet. 3:3-6. It is not enough to have the physical beauty without character. Your beauty surpasses the type of hairdos, costly apparels and other fashions in vogue. Rather, it should be the hidden person of the heart that is quiet and gentle. This is the real beauty which is precious in God’s sight. This is the real charm. Start radiating the beauty of God.
PRAYER POINTS
1. Lord, help our girls, ladies and women to develop godly character that beautifies their lives.
2. I refuse to contribute to the disaster of ‘fashionmania’ ravaging even churches today, in Jesus’ name.
3. Pray that the good Lord would deliver our teeming women/ladies from the fashion-craze in this generation.
