TOPIC: THE UNUSUAL MIRACLE
MEMORISE : The officers answered, “No man ever spoke like this Man!” (John 7:46)
READ : John 7:40-52
[40]. Therefore many from the crowd, when they heard this saying, said, “Truly this is the Prophet.”
[41]. Others said, “This is the Christ.” But some said, “Will the Christ come out of Galilee?
[42]. Has not the Scripture said that the Christ comes from the seed of David and from the town of Bethlehem, where David was?”
[43]. So there was a division among the people because of Him.
[44]. Now some of them wanted to take Him, but no one laid hands on Him.
[45]. Then the officers came to the chief priests and Pharisees, who said to them, “Why have you not brought Him?”
[46]. The officers answered, “No man ever spoke like this Man!”
[47]. Then the Pharisees answered them, “Are you also deceived?
[48]. Have any of the rulers or the Pharisees believed in Him?
[49]. But this crowd that does not know the law is accursed.”
[50]. Nicodemus (he who came to Jesus by night, being one of them) said to them,
[51]. “Does our law judge a man before it hears him and knows what he is doing?”
[52]. They answered and said to him, “Are you also from Galilee? Search and look, for no prophet has arisen out of Galilee.”
EXPOSITION
Our text today is a fascinating story that highlights Jesus’ power versus the disbelief of those around Him. Jesus encounters a group of people who are debating His legitimacy as a prophet. They argue that Jesus cannot be the Messiah because He comes from Galilee, a region they consider to be insignificant. However, Jesus surprises them by performing a miracle right before their eyes. The miracle in question is the healing of a man who was born blind. He followed Jesus’ instructions and was miraculously healed. The people who witnessed this miracle were initially amazed, but their amazement quickly turned to scepticism. They questioned the man who was healed, doubting that he was ever blind in the first place. They turned their attention to Jesus, accusing Him of being a sinner and fraud. However, Jesus calmly defends Himself, pointing out that He had performed many other miracles that proved His divine nature. This story is a powerful reminder of the importance of faith and belief in the face of scepticism and doubt.
Despite the disbelief of those around Him, Jesus was able to perform the incredible miracle that left no doubt as to His divine powers. This story continues to inspire and captivate readers till this day, reminding us that anything is possible with faith and the power of God (Lk. 1:37).
PRAYER POINTS
1. Lord, let the Spirit of faith and power be released on the Church in the land, in Jesus’ name.
2. I let go of doubt so that true faith in Christ can take possession of me, in Jesus’ name.
3. Pray for CAC Babalola Memorial International Miracle Camp, Ikeji Arakeji, Osun State, the Camp Manager and the staff as led by the Spirit of God.
