THE STINKY VESSEL.
Read Revelation 14:4,5.
MEMORISE: Depart! Depart! Go out from there, Touch no unclean thing; Go out from the midst of her, be clean, You who bear the vessels of the Lord (Isaiah 52:11).
EXPOSITION
Something is said to be stinking when it produces strong and offensive odour to the sense of smell. A Christian with a dirty heart is a stinking vessel. The life that allows sin and worldliness stinks. In the Old Testament era, worshippers would take special care of their outward appearances by NOW, our heart is what we should wash with the precious blood of Christ Jesus.
The command of God is that those who carry His vessels or articles must be clean, thoroughly clean; no dirt in them. Dirt contaminates our fellowship with Him. Thus, charged the saints to wash their cloth clean. Dear devout, if you have already touched the unclean, you are to make yourself clean again by calling on God for forgiveness and forsake the unclean, so that you will be able to carry the vessel of God again. Depart from your sin, do not infect others with it and stay away from the unclean.
A vessel can be contaminated or made unclean through false doctrine and modern day human theories which abound in the church of Christ today. Remember the saying ‘among the twelve is a Judas’. The Spirit of Gehaz – coveteousness, the unforgiving spirit, the spirit of gossip and backbiting, all these have subtly gone into the church of today. Remember you are not of the world but God’s. Don’t fellowship with Jezebel that has no root in the word of God.
God will not change His commands, precepts, laws and doctrines because of your generation, God’s standard cannot be lowered to accommodate our complaints or civilisation. Let us look for the old way and old ways of righteousness (Heb. 13:8).
PRAYER POINTS:
1. Pray that God should purge you of every filthiness that makes you stink as a vessel in the vineyard of God.
2. Pray that God should purge our local assemblies of every false doctrine and modern day theories that have contaminated our churches.
3. Pray that God will purge our government of every bad person that occupies the seat of power which caused crookedness and permissiveness.
