A FUTURE AND A HOME (2)

Read John 14:1-4

MEMORISE: Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen (Hebrews 11:1)

EXPOSITION

HOPE: While future is the bright tomorrow that we are expecting or hoping for, hope is the assurance that our expectation shall turn out to be good or as expected. Hope expectation some level of certainty, assurance, confidence etc. Are all hope realistic? Not at all. There are many things that are hoped for that shall never not be achieved at the end. Why because of the frailty of the person who has promised, and probably the impatience and disbelief of the recipient.

However, Christians’ hope in God and the hope of heaven are not like this.

God has promised, He is not a man that He should lie, or son of man that He should change His mind (Number 23:19). Christians’ hope stands because God has promised. He promised better life, glorious future, unlimited protection and unhindered flow of blessing and eternal bliss. As God promised His people a wonderful and peaceable future and hope, He wanted them to have faith in what He has said.

There is that tendency to disbelief what God is saying to us about tomorrow and His great plans for us, because of our present predicament. The direct recipients of Jeremiah 29:11 faced a similar situation. They wondered why God would say He love them, yet, He allowed them to go into captivity. Isn’t that paradoxical! You said God loves me and He allows me to suffer. However, the truth is that they suffered for their sins, yet, the love of God did not wane on them. The expectation of God for them is that they turn away from their sins and enjoy His blessings. God loves us so much and He is truthful to all He has in His agenda for us. Warning: Turn away from your sins and see how loving, and faithful God is to you

PRAYER POINTS:

1. Lord help me to totally trust You and depend upon Your undeniable promises for my life.

2. My hope and expectation in You shall not be cut short in Jesus’name.

3. Help the believers to continue to trust You and look forward for the promise of Christ’s return.
