WORKING WITH TREMBLING

READ: EPHESIANS 6:5-9

MEMORISE: Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling (Philippians 2:12)

EXPOSITION

Our God is orderly, and wants all of His children to be orderly as they carry out their daily duties, assigned to them them everywhere. This  includes giving regards and honour wherever necessary,   in order to maintain peace and decorum. It is divinely expected of us to serve one another in the fear of the Lord, with all eagerness and concern to please God, first, and one another to God’s glory. This is done by following the  order of the work assigned to us, especially, as laid down by our masters.  We must do our work having in mind that though wages await us from the boss, the greater reward is from the Lord who sees into the secret of everyone.

Workers everywhere must realise that we will give account, both now and ultimately.  This sound propel workers, especially servants, to obey their masters in season and out of season (2 Tim. 4:2), with all sincerity and love. We work with fear and trembling avoid failure and falling. This entails carefulness and not being afraid or nervous when the boss comes around. We aren’t given the spirit of fear, but of love, power and sound mind (2 Tim.   1 :7).

Ultimately, believers serving in government and church environments must be honest in their duties to men and God. Always remember that God, the Owner of all, watches you and your actions, reactions, and inactions. He is more interested in your motives, and judges accordingly. Your rewards are not going to be based on what you tell God, but as He sees and judges you. Learn to do ALL things as unto the Lord (1 Cor. 10:31; Col. 3:17, 24). So resolve today to do that which is right as the great Master is watching.

May you not miss your rewards, in Jesus’ name! Amen Happy new month.
