INCREASED SINS, INCREASED SORROW
READ: JEREMIAH 30:12-18
MEMORISE: All your lover have forgotten you; they do not seek you; for I have wounded you with the wound of an enemy, with the chastisement of a cruel one, for the multitude of your iniquities because your sins have increased (Jeremiah 30 : 14)
EXPOSITION
God’s policy remains sure: Give and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you (Lk. 6:38). He gives everything according to measure, whether His blessings or otherwise, because a man shall reap what he sows (Gal. 6:7). It is alarming, today, how God’s people refuse His pleas, warnings and rebuke until His anger is poured on them. Instead of precept upon precept, line upon line, God’s people continue to add sin upon sin, and iniquity upon iniquity. And so, when God bruises them, no one is able to cure them. But what about their lovers, with whom they had romance and forgotten God? No! The would not be able to help them. Can they face the Awesome God, the Lion of the tribe of Judah?
How many times have your ‘god-fathers’ failed and let you down? Ask the politicians, they will tell you there are good and bad times when it comes to relationship with to their ‘god-fathers’. Those who make you sin will not have medicine for your cure when you are bruised. Instead, they will mock you as they face their own punishment, too.
Believers in Christ must know that God does not have any favourite when it comes to the issue of sin and punishment. He deals with His own children as enemies when they are recalcitrant and have failed to yield to Him in repentance and righteousness. Still, as a loving Father, He does not close that grace to repent, as His waiting arms are open to r receive sinners who want to come back home (cf. Lk. 15:20). No amount of sin can be too much for God to forgive you, if you return to Him today, and free yourself from the wrath to come
