NO CONFIDENCE IN THE FLESH

A football team went for an away-match and because of their records did not bother to do the necessary preparations. The coach trusted his players so well that every required precaution was jettisoned. At the end of the match, the team lost by 4-0. They trusted in the arm of flesh.
Confidence is an act, or the art of being clear-headed whether the hypothesis or a chosen progression of action is the best or not. Paul was a man with an intimidating curriculum vitae. An apostle of Christ who had a dramatic encounter with the LORD Jesus on his way to Damascus on a destructive mission. He chronicled his past, yet having tasted the joy that only Christ can bring, concluded that, … whatever were gains to me, I now consider loss for only one purpose __ the sake of Christ.
Beloved, why are you boasting? What do you have that has not been given to you by God? The arm of flesh will fail us if we do not boast in the LORD. If you must boast, let it be that it is because you know the LORD. If not, your boasting will be in vain.
Insight: The Spirit makes alive, the flesh is of no gain.
Prayer: Open my eyes, O LORD to set my priorities right as I trust you, in Jesus’ name.
