FOREWORD BY THE GENERAL SUPERINTENDENT,
PASTOR EMMANUEL O. ODEJOBI
TO ALL MEMBERS AND MINISTERS OF GOD IN
CHRIST APOSTOLIC CHURCH (NIGERIA & OVERSEAS)
FOR YEAR 2024 A.D. PRAYER WEEK
Oh that men would praise the LORD, for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men (Psalm 107:8). Indeed, if the Lord has not been on our sides, as a church, nation, family and individual, we would have been consumed by the immeasurable challenges that bedeviled us in year 2023. You are our hiding place, you preserved us from all the troubles that accompanied 2023 – truly, our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers. The snare was broken, and we escaped – Glory be to God.
Brethren, it is another year of hope, loaded with divine benefit, we cannot but thank God of our forebears who bequeath to us an evergreen legacy of prayer that connects us unto heaven and as commanded by our Lord Jesus Christ “that men ought always to pray, and not to faint” (Luke 18:1), and if we faint not we shall eat the best of the land of 2024.
As we enter the new year with full vigor, vitality to possess our possession, the WORD of God remains the only means of asking and receiving from the LORD, the word of Jesus still subsist. “If ye abide in me and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will and it shall be done unto you” (John 15:7). In essence, let the word of God shape our perspective in prayer, through the indepth study and meditation in order to be led into living and praying biblical. We should make concerted effort to obey the Dos and DONTS, the two pillars that uphold the Word of God. There is nothing bad in praying AT THE SEASIDE, AT THE MOUNTAIN TOP, AT THE GRAVESIDE OF OUR PATRIARCHS (… Why hast thou disquieted me, to bring me up?… I Sam. 28:15) but the best and fastest way to get our prayers answered is through our trust and reliance on the word of God. David said, would I lift up my eyes unto the hills when there is only one mountain (Lord) that help can come from (Psalm 121:1).
Joshua was able to make a good success in his days simply because he devotedly followed the commands. This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth, but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that in written therein; for then thou shalt make thy way PROSPEROUS, and then thou shall have GOOD SUCCESS (Joshua 1:8). Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will by no means pass away (Matt. 24:35).
In like manner, the WATCHWORD for 2024 as given through the Holy Spirit to the church indicates that it is only through and by His Word we can be upheld, “UPHOLD ME ACCORDING UNTO THY WORD, THAT I MAY LIVE; AND LET ME NOT BE ASHAMED OF MY HOPE” (Psalm 119:116).
The watchword highlights
(i) The word of God upholds.
(ii) The word of God assures our living even in the midst of death.
(iii) The word of God ensures we are not put to shame in all we hope, in the new year and beyond.
Finally, as we journey through the wilderness of 2024, the two eyes of God – His Word His Word and Faith will guide us through and make us land safely, in the name of Jesus. Amen.
PRAY BIBLICALLY, PRAY ENTHUSIASTICALLY AND PRAY CONSISTENTLY, your miracle is sure. I commend you unto the hands of God and the word of His grace. Happy and prosperous new year.
Don’t give up in prayer, so that you can get up in life.
