TOPIC: MARRY WITHIN THE FOLD (II)

[14]. Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness?
[15]. And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever?
[16]. And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: “I will dwell in them And walk among them. I will be their God,
And they shall be My people.”

EXPOSITION
Thank God for the discussion we started yesterday. Marrying from outside the fold of Christ is the riskiest thing that can ever happen to a young Christian. It is a very clear instruction from the Lord that we should be careful of how we associate with those outside the fold of Christ (unbelievers). Marrying an unbeliever is like committing suicide. Some people have made the mistake of thinking that they can change their unbelieving partners after the wedding. Ask them what they are going through now-It is not easy.
Isaac and Rebecca were grieved because of where Esau got his wife from-among the daughters of Hittites (Gen. 26:34-35; 27:46). Don’t become a thorn in the flesh, pain in the marrows of your parents and yourself because of godless, self-willed marital decision. Don’t be careless and rudderless like Esau. It is dangerous. Isaac’s experience in the choice of Rebecca shows why you shouldn’t joke with carrying your parents in the Lord along in the choice of your life partner. Don’t be wise in your own eyes. Allow God to help you through your godly parents.
PRAYER POINTS
1. Lord, deliver me from every ungodly association that can ruin my life.
2. Lord Jesus, let marriage never become my bane in life.
3. Parents, pray for your children that they would never fall into the wrong hands in marriage, come what may.
