OPEN HEAVENS FOR TEENS
DATE: MONDAY AUGUST 19TH 2024
THEME: BEWARE OF FALSE TEACHINGS

MEMORISE:
Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
Matthew 7:15

READ: MATTHEW 7:15-16
[15] Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
[16] Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?

MESSAGE:
As you grow in faith, it is important that you also grow in your discernment and understanding of what is true and what is false. The world is full of false teachings and false ideologies that can easily mislead you. Jesus, in today’s Bible reading, revealed that false teachers often present themselves as being good and holy, but their actions and teachings reveal their true nature. It is important for you to be aware of the fruit of their teachings, and to test everything against the truth of the word of God.

1 Timothy 4:1 reveals that false teaching is not a minor issue, but it is a serious threat to your faith. Therefore, you need to be vigilant. Any doctrine that has no foundation in the word of God is contending with your faith. Any teaching that will make you sin against God is from the pit of hell. I want you to know that God will not go against what He has said in His word. Therefore, test every doctrine by His word and His Spirit that resides in you.

KEYPOINT:
Any teaching that cannot be found in the Bible is not from God.

HYMN 20: CHRISTIANS, SEEK NOT YET REPOSE;
1 Christian, seek not yet repose;
Hear thy guardian angel say,
“Thou art in the midst of foes:
Watch and pray!”

2 Principalities and powers ,
Mustering their unseen array,
Wait for thy unguarded hours:
“Watch and pray.”

3 Gird thy heavenly armour on;
Wear it every night and day
Ambush’d lies the evil one:
“Watch and pray.”

4 Hear the victors who o’ercame;
Still they mark each warrior’s way;
All with one sweet voice exclaim,
“Watch and pray!”

5 Hear, above all, hear thy Lord,
Him thou lovest to obey;
Hide within thy heart His word
“Watch and pray!”
